This was the final colored design of my first 9 monster design! i have a whole bunch but just not enough time to do work for them, originally i wanted to combine the original rough pen sketch, this final colored design and an action picture that shows "the Lantern" in the apocalyptic world of "9"
i just gotta say, even entering this contest.. is an absolute HONOR, i adore this movie, like with most of my being xDD Shane Acker has always been one of my art idols ever since my friend showed me the original "9" short, and now with this MASTERPIECE of an animated treasure.. gaah its just so amazing..

The Lanterncomprised of ..

The Lantern uses its long legs to move quickly, and bend low. it uses its smaller arms to scavenge around for parts to bring back to The Fabrication Machine
Its back fan retracts and lays low on the spine, but flares up when alerted.
the head is one large eye sensor, the rim of it spins to focus the eye.
the lantern attached to the rear of "the lantern" is used as a distraction or mislead, it shines brightly the same color as the eye, so as to lure or confuse prey into thinking that is the head.
when it finds things, it holds them with its extra arms, or stores them in the lantern itself.
this monster is not as much a danger as many others, it is more used to move out farther and gather more useful parts to create more deadly machines.
this is my first design, im gonna try to do more , and an image of "the lantern" if i can, i would KILL to win this contest.. even third place would be an honor, but i have no chance so this is just fer the honor of maybe having my work seen by Shane Acker
